BOCA RATON, FL - Greg Gantt scored a career high 29 points in the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's 77-74 win over UALR on Thursday night.
FAU fell behind by as many as 10 in the first half, but scored five unanswered points to head to halftime trailing by only five, 37-32. A 7-0 run early in the second half put the Owls ahead, 46-45. Gantt capped the run with a layin. The two teams went back and forth for several minutes, before FAU scored eight in a row as part of an 11-3 run to push the lead to 10 with 3:52 remaining.
UALR responded with a 9-0 run of their own to pull within one with 40 seconds left. Alex Tucker drew a foul and drained to two free throws to give the Owls a three-point cushion. Solomon Bozeman's three-pointer at the buzzer fell short.
The Owls won their third home game in a row and for the fourth time in five games overall. FAU hosts West division leader Arkansas State on Saturday .The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
