Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic men's soccer team won a thrilling 1-0 decision over Florida Gulf Coast University on Monday night at FAU Soccer Stadium. Sophomore Darnell King scored the game's only goal off a rebound in the 99th minute to give the Owls' their first victory of the season.
The Eagles controlled the tempo during the first half as they outshot Florida Atlantic 9-2. During the second half, both teams had multiple chances to score but neither side was able to finish. Both teams tallied two shots on goal during the overtime period.
For Florida Atlantic, freshman goalkeeper Jeremy Crumpton tallied eight saves in his first career start. Matthew Smith recorded four saves in net for Florida Gulf Coast.
The Owls will be back in action on Friday night at home against Howard University at 5 pm.
