Former Owl Robert Widlansky claims Carolina League batting title

Boca Raton, FL - Former Owl baseball player Robert Widlansky was crowned the 2009 batting champion of the Carolina Leage as the first baseman posted a .340 average in 86 games for the Frederick Keys, Class-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

Widlansky played four seasons for FAU from 2004-2007 and posted a .351 career average in 172 games with 27 home runs and 134 RBI. His best season as an Owl came during his senior year when the Plantation, FL native batted .433 with 15 home runs and 69 RBI in only 58 games. Widlansky was drafted by Baltimore shortly after his senior season, going in the 11th round of the 2007 June Draft.
