MURFREESBORO, TN - Becky Brandies had four RBI in FAU's 6-3 win over Middle Tennessee State on Saturday.
The win helped the Owls (26-26, 9-11 Sun Belt) salvage a split in the doubleheader with the Blue Raiders and guarantees FAU a spot in the conference tournament. Brandies hit a solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning that pushed the Owls' lead to 3-1. She followed with a three-run shot in the fifth to help put the game out of reach. MTSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a double play and fly out to center ended the inning with only one run scoring. Carrie Ann Potter threw her 10th complete game of the season in the win.
In the first game, FAU fell behind 5-0 after two innings and were unable to catch up, eventually losing 5-3. Ashlyn Parmerter and Kerri Croney both went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
FAU and MTSU will meet in the rubber game at 1 p.m. eastern on Sunday. Live stats will be available at www.fausports.com.
