BOCA RATON, FL - Amber Barton's hit her fourth homerun of the season, this one an inside the park homer, to help the Florida Atlantic University softball team (21-25, 4-10 Sun Belt) to a 4-1 win over the University of Louisiana-Monroe in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Barton's homerun came in the bottom of the third with FAU already holding a 1-0 lead. Barton's blast nearly went over the right field fence, but hit off of the bottom of the fence and scooted away from the ULM outfielders, allowing Barton, Blair Bodenmiller and Amy Bukovich to score.
Rose Gressley allowed just four hits and pitched her 10th complete game of the season to pick up the win.
Game one was a scoreless tie until the top of the fifth inning when the Warhawks scored four runs. They added another run in the top of the seventh inning on their way to a 5-0 win.
FAU and ULM will face off Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in the rubber match of the series. Live stats will be available via GameTracker at www.fausports.com.
