Owls Split Doubleheader With Jaguars

MOBILE, AL - The Florida Atlantic University softball team took one of two games from the University of South Alabama on Wednesday night. Blair Bodenmiller's RBI bunt single proved the difference in the Owls' 3-2 win in game one.
The Owls trailed 2-1 in the top of the third inning when Kerri Croney doubled in Christine Houghtaling to tie the game. Croney stood on third when Bodenmiller's bunt allowed her to score and give FAU the lead.
Amber Barton allowed two runs on three hits in the first inning, but did not give up another hit the rest of the game for her fifth win of the season. FAU fell behind early in the second game, but rallied to tie the game at 2-2. The Jaguars scored three runs in the third inning and the Owls were unable to pull even, losing the game 5-2.
The two teams will play the deciding game on Thursday, with a scheduled start time of 2 p.m. eastern. Live stats will be available via GameTracker at www.fausports.com.
