GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team upset the #17 University of Florida Gators 7-6 on Wednesday night.
The Owls (8-1) trailed 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning when they scored six runs on three hits and a Gator error. The biggest play of the inning came on a two-run base hit to center by Nick DelGuidice. Florida rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
FAU retook the lead in the top of the eighth when a Nick Criaris sacrifice fly drove in Travis Ozga. The Gators had the runners on first and second with none out in the ninth inning, but Hugh Adams retired the next three hitters to end the game.
