Owls Defeat Providence in Strike Out Cancer Finale

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team (9-6) defeated Providence 5-2 on Sunday in the final game of the Strike Out Cancer tournament.
FAU loaded the bases in the first inning when Rose Gressley laced a three-run single that allowed Ambar Jones. Caitlyn Bliss and Blair Bodenmiller to score. The Owls added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Brittany Walker doubled in Jones and Ashlyn Parmerter.
Kathryn Stauffer went five innings for her fourth win of the season. Carrie Ann Potter pitched two innings in relief for her first career save.
The Owls travel to Las Vegas to participate in the Eller Media Tournament, hosted by UNLV. FAU faces the host Rebels on Friday, February 27 at 3 p.m. eastern. Live stats of the game will be available via GameTracker at fausports.com.
