GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team (6-4) lost to Coastal Carolina 3-2 on the final day of the Lipton Invitational.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning, when CCU scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead. FAU tied the game in the sixth when Caitlyn Bliss drove in Ashlyn Parmerter and a throwing error by the Chanticleer shortstop allowed Ambar Jones to score from second on the play.
Coastal Carolina regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Kerri Croney led off with a base hit to right center, but the Owls were unable to capitalize and lost by a final score of 3-2.
FAU returns on Friday, February 20 when they face Arkansas as part of the FAIU Strike Out Cancer tournament.
