BOCA RATON, FL - A late rally was not enough to bring Florida Atlantic (5-8) a win as the Owls fell to Hofstra (8-5) 67-63 on Tuesday.
FAU shot 48 percent from the field in the first half, but still trailed by one at the half, 33-32. The Pride took a 53-43 lead after scoring 10 straight points. The Owls pulled to within one on several occasions in the second half, but could never overtake the Pride.
Sanchez Hughley led the Owls with 14 points and Brett Royster grabbed 13 rebounds in FAU's final nonconference game of the season. The Owls resume Sun Belt play on Saturday when they host South Alabama. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, it will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
