BOCA RATON, FL - After months of offseason workouts, the Owls hit the field for the first time as a team today, particpating in the first official practice in preparation for the 2010 season.
h"It was a great day to be back on the field," said FAU head baseball coach John McCormack. "I was pleased with the pace and enthusiasm by the players and I think we got a lot accoplished."
The Owls began slow with individual stretching and drills, but came together as a team later in the practice to work on cuts, relays and bunt defense. The workout concluded with batting practice.
"Everyone was where they were supposed to be and the weather agreed with us," McCormack said. "It was a good first step in preparation for the upcoming season."
The Owls posted a 30-26 record last season and were eliminated by Middle Tennessee State in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. FAU will be back on the field on Saturday morning at 11 am for their first intrasquad scrimmage of the preseason.
