BOCA RATON, FL - Krystena Castro had a match-high 10 kills in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's three-set victory over Morgan State on Friday night.
The Owls (3-1) led by a single point, 8-7 in the first set before going on a 9-3 run to stretch their lead to 17-10 on their way to a 25-18 victory in set one. The second set featured seven ties and five lead changes. FAU trailed 16-14 late when a MSU serving error led to a Kristyna Dzmuranova serving run as the Owls scored 10 straight points to rally to a 25-16 win in the second set.
The third set was tied at 10 when the Owls scored seven of the next nine points to take a 17-12 advantage. FAU led 24-17 when Katie Evanyo had a service ace to end the match.
The Owls finish up the UMKC Invitational on Saturday when they play host UMKC at noon, followed by Samford at 4 p.m. eastern. Live stats will be available at UMKCKangaroos.com.
