CONWAY, SC - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team lost the second match of the season to Niagara University in a 1-0 decision. The Purple Eagle's goal in the 65th minute sealed the match and sent FAU to a 0-2 overall season record.
The Owls had more than double the number of shots, registering a total of 23. Freshman Calvin Crooks recorded six shots, senior Javier Carillo took four while freshman Rocco Pecora attempted three shots.
For the second consecutive match, FAU's defense played sound in the second half, only allowing three total shots. FAU goalkeeper Phillip Lamarre recorded three saves during the game.
"We put a decent game together, but at the end of the day we weren't able to capitalize on the opportunities. Whenever we create opportunities we have to capitalize on them" FAU head coach Kos Donev said.
Florida Atlantic's next match will be the home opener on Friday, September 5 against the University of Missouri-Kansas City at FAU Field.
