BOCA RATON, FL - A three game sweep of Middle Tennessee State University over the weekend now has the Florida Atlantic University softball team on a six-game winning streak heading into the final week of the regular season.
FAU will travel to Miami on Friday, May 2 to face Florida International University at 7 p.m. for the second game of their three-game season series before returning to Boca Raton on Saturday, May 3 for the series finale. The Owls took game one of the series in Miami with a final score of 7-4.
FAU's game on Saturday night will also be the final home game for seniors Lauren Crandall and Melissa Moore. The pair will be recognized in a pregame ceremony. The first 50 fans in attendance will receive FAU car flags and also be able to participate in numerous promotional giveaways from sponsors such as Pepsi and Tires Plus.
The regular season ends on Sunday, May 4 when FAU travels to DeLand to take on Stetson University in the second game of a series. The Hatters are longtime rivals from the Atlantic Sun Conference. The game will also serve as a homecoming for Crandall and sophomore Amber Barton, who both grew up close to the Stetson campus. The Owls took the first meeting between the two teams with a 2-0 victory in Boca Raton on February 27. Rose Gressley threw a complete game one-hitter in the victory.
