Owls Take Third at SBC Tournament

In the consolation match of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, the no. 73 Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team defeated no. 71 Middle Tennessee 4-3 to take third at the tournament. After dropping the doubles point, the Owls rebounded to win four singles matches and saw Karol Szmurlo seal the win with a three-set victory at the no. 3 spot.
Down by one point entering singles play, FAU quickly took three points as Eddie Majcher, Joe Cadogan and Olivier Sajous all took two-set wins. The Blue Raiders won the next two matches at no. 4 and no. 2 to put the pressure on Szmurlo at no. 3. The senior dropped the first set but responded with a 6-4 win in the second set to force a third set. The match went down to the wire as Szmurlo took a 10-8 third-set tiebreaker for the FAU win.
