Owls Complete Series Sweep of South Alabama 6-1

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic (25-18, 7-2 Sun Belt) softball team defeated South Alabama 6-1 on Sunday to sweep the three game series.
The Owls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning on the power of four hits, including an RBI double by Lauren Crandall to seize control of the game. A Kerri Croney sacrifice fly drove in Amy Bukovich and stretched the lead to 5-0. FAU added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Rose Gressley scored on a single by Bukovich. Amber Barton scattered five hits while throwing her 17th complete game of the year.
FAU is now 6-0 in conference home games after sweeping Western Kentucky earlier this season. The Owls will face longtime rival Troy in a three-game series that begins Saturday with a doubleheader.
