Softball Continues Hot Streak at Parents' Weekend Tournament

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team won both of its games at Day One of the Parents' Weekend Tournament beat on Friday night.
Against Western Kentucky, the Owls were victorious 10-5. Ambar Jones led off the game with a base hit and soon scored on Melissa's Moore homerun to give FAU a 2-0 lead. WKU's Lindsay Antone hit a solo homerun to cut the Owls' lead in half. FAU scored a run in the third and added two more in both the fourth and fifth innings to take 7-3 lead after five innings. The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Owls added three in the top of the seventh to take a 10-5 lead. Rose Gressley pitched 5.2 innings for the win.
In the nightcap against Quinnipiac, FAU scored two runs on Bobcat errors. The other two runs in the 4-0 win came on an Ashlyn Parmerter base hit and a Caitlyn Bliss double. Amber Barton threw her 12th complete game of the year in the victory.
Action continues tomorrow in the Parents' Weekend Tournament. FAU faces Longwood at 1:00 p.m. before the elimination round begins at 4 p.m. Live audio of both of FAU's games willl be available at fausports.com and live stats of all the day's action will be available at fausports.com.
