BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team (10-10) split its two games on Day Two of the Miken Classic Saturday.
Rose Gressley threw a complete game four-hitter against Central Michigan in the first game for the Owls to pick up her fifth win of the season.
All of the game's scoring came in the second inning. Caitlyn Bliss homered to left to put FAU up 1-0. An RBI single by Melissa Moore and a bases loaded walk of Gressley drove in two more Owl runs. Gressley threw her fourth complete game of the season in the win for FAU.
The Owls fell to Illinois 4-0 in the final game of the day. The Illini scored two runs in both the second and fifth innings. FAU was unable to catch up with Illinois pitcher Claire DeVreese as she held the Owls to just four hits on the night. FAU will face Illinois in rematch as the two teams will play again in the Championship Game of the Miken Classic.
