Owls Sweep Day One of Miken Classic

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team (9-9) won both of its games on Friday at the Miken Classic.
Amber Barton threw 4.2 innings in relief to pick up her fifth win of the season as the Florida Atlantic softball team defeated Tennessee State 9-1.The Tigers had the bases loaded with one out in the second inning when Barton relieved Suarez . Barton was able to strike out the next two batters to end the inning.
FAU had just two hits through four innings before heating up in the fifth inning. A Blair Bodenmiller double drove in Caitlyn Bliss. Becky Brandies doubled to drive in two more runs in the inning.
In the sixth, the Owls scored six runs, including three on a Blair Bodenmiller homerun. The final run came on a throwing error by the TSU second baseman that allowed Jessica Myers to score to end the game.
The Owls defeated Bethune-Cookman 6-0 in FAU's second game. FAU scored five runs in the fourth inning, including three on a bases clearing triple by Ambar Jones. Rose Gressley pitched a complete game two-hitter as the Owls defeated the Wildcats.
