BOCA RATON, FL - Rose Gressley threw a one-hit shutout in her fourth complete game of the season as the Florida Atlantic softball team defeated Stetson 2-0 on Wednesday night.
FAU extends its lead in the all-time series to 34-15 and has now won five of the last six meetings.
The Owls scored in the fourth inning when Lauren Crandall walked with the bases loaded to score Becky Brandies and give FAU a 1-0 lead. FAU added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Melissa Moore drove in Blair Bodenmiller to make the score 2-0.
Rose Gressley was pitching a no-hitter through six innings before Amanda Lindsey led off the seventh inning with a double to right center field for the Hatters' first hit of the game. Gressley retired the next three batters in order to end the game. She narrowly missed throwing the 20th no-hitter in FAU history.
The Owls return to action this weekend for the Miken Classic. FAU's plays Tennessee State at 6 p.m. on Friday. Live stats will be available via GameTracker at fausports.com.
