Owls Split On Final Day of Palm Springs Classic

PALM SPRINGS, CA - The Florida Atlantic softball team split its two games on the final day of the Palm Springs Classic. The Owls went 2-4 over the four-day tournament.
The Owls dropped their first game of the day to Oregon State 8-3. The Beavers scored in each of the first four innings to take a 7-2 lead and FAU was unable to close to gap. Rose Gressley went the distance in a losing effort, surrendering five earned runs. OSU pitcher Kelly Dyer went four innings in relief for the win. Amy Bukovich and Kerri Croney both homered for the Owls.
FAU defeated UNLV 10-6 in its final game of the tournament. The Owls trailed 3-2 headed into the top of the fifth inning when they exploded for six runs behind four hits and two Rebel errors. Amber Barton scattered seven hits four earned runs while throwing her seventh complete game of the season to pick up the win.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday when they host rival Stetson at 6 p.m. Live stats and live audio will be available at fausports.com.
