THE .500 MARK: With the wins over UCF, Bethune-Cookman and Tennessee Tech, FAU ended with a winning record in the month of November at 3-3. The Owls only finished above .500 once all of last year, going 3-2 in December of 2007.
FREQUENT FLYERS: The next two road trips for the Owls will be the longest of the year in terms of travel. FAU will travel 6,756 miles round trip from Boca Raton to Chicago and Denver.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC: FAU saw its three-game winning streak get snapped on Sunday in the finals of the FAU Thanksgiving Classic by Texas. The Longhorns outscored the Owls 53-15 in the second half en route to an 87-38 win over FAU. The Owls were competitive early, leading 7-0 five minutes into the game before fading at the end of the first half. The Owls struggled to hold on to the ball, especially late. FAU committed 21 turnovers. Carla Stubbs (Miami, FL/Jackson HS) was named to the All-Tournament team after scoring 10 points in both tournament games. She was the only Owl to crack double-figures on Sunday.
UIC: UIC opened up the season 3-0 after defeating SIU-Edwardsville 70-54 on Sunday. The Flames have rebounded the ball well in the first three contests, averaging 12 more boards per game this year than their opponent. They're led by a pair of junior guards. Jessie Miller leads UIC in scoring at 16.0 points per game and averages seven rebounds a game. Miller has made over 50 percent of her field goal attempts and is a 42 percent shooter from beyond the arc. Briana Hinkle is second in scoring at 13 points per game. Freshman Jasmine Bailey has controlled the boards averaging just over eight rebounds a contest.
CHANGE IN THE STARTERS: Since re-inserting Carla Stubbs and Jaimie Givens in the starting lineup on November 22, FAU has gone 3-1. Stubbs and Givens have responded by averaging in double-figures in points per game during that stretch. Stubbs is now leading the Owls in rebounds.
NEXT UP: The Owls will travel to Colorado to take on the University of Denver Pioneers on December 13 at 3 p.m. The Pioneers are 1-3 this season; however, they defeated FAU 69-53 in the only meeting between the two teams last year.
