We're facing an outstanding football team with a lot of experience in being in bowl games. And experience in that bowl, it is a home game for the MAC conference, and they've been there three times in a row. Their fans love it, indicated by how they've increased their attendance each year. Detroit has learned how to market a bowl, and get people into the stands, because there is 30,000 to 35,000 people that come from the Central Michigan and 10,000 come from the people in the city of Detroit, where corporations are buying into the experience. Maybe they picked us because south Florida is considered to be a great TV market for college football. We're glad it's us, because it's the only game being played that day on ESPN.
It is incumbent upon us to play the way we know how. We need to be able to put points on the board and to find a way to outscore those guys.
Notes:
The Motor City Bowl will also air, on a delayed basis, 11:30 a.m. (ET), on CSS on December 28, 2008.
The Owls returned to the practice field for the first time since November 28, the day prior to the Shula Bowl. The team will spend Monday and Tuesday bettering the program and will begin working with the scout team on Wednesday and Thursday.
