BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's volleyball team will travel to face Troy University and the University of South Alabama this weekend. The Owls will play Troy on Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m., and then face South Alabama on Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. The team will return home on Tuesday, October 21 to take on Florida International University at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
FAU (10-8) will be looking to improve its place in the conference standings. The team is 3-3 in Sun Belt Conference (SBC) play and fourth in the East Division. FAU split their two matches over the weekend, defeating the University of North Texas in four sets on October 10, and fell to the University of Denver in three sets on October 11. The Owls have defeated both teams already this season.
FAU defeated Troy in four sets on September 26 in Boca Raton. The following night, FAU defeated South Alabama in five sets, giving Jody Brown his 200th career win. Krystena Castro had 14 kills in both matches.
FIU leads the East division at 5-1 and is led by Yarimar Rosa, the SBC Preseason Player of the Year, who was recently named SBC Player of the Week for a record-setting ninth time. Tuesday's home match against the Golden Panthers also will be the start of the team's Dig Pink campaign. The team will wear pink jerseys as part of the campaign to raise breast cancer awareness.
