ORLANDO, FL - An inefficient offense proved to be the downfall for the Florida Atlantic university volleyball team Thursday night.
The Owls hit just .109 as a team in a 3-0 (23-30, 23-30, 20-30) loss to UCF at the UCF Invitational. In game one, the serving of the Knights gave FAU trouble as three different UCF players had scoring runs of at least three points on the way to a 30-23 victory.
FAU had a negative hitting efficiency in game two, but found themselves within three points at 17-14, before a 10-3 run put the Knights in position to take a 2-0 lead to the locker room. FAU was within 16-12 midway through game three before a Jenny Heppert serving run put UCF up by eight and paved the way to a UCF victory.
The Owls fall to 1-6 on the year, but will take the court twice tomorrow, playing Montana State at 10 a.m. and North Florida at 4 p.m. Both games will be available via GameTracker on fausports.com.
