BOCA RATON, FL - Despite the team's first goal of the season by Jesse Kehoe, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer squad dropped a 2-1 decision to Bowling Green State University at FAU Field Sunday.
Kehoe's header off a free kick by Andre McCreath gave the Owls their first tally of 2007 in the game's 72nd minute. It was the first career goal for Kehoe.
Bowling Green struck first in the 29th minute, as Jacob Lawrence connected with Thomas MacLean from the right side. MacLean launched a header that beat Florida Atlantic goalkeeper Phillip Lamarre, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, BGSU found the net again on an unassisted marker by Chuko Evwaraye. The redshirt sophomore midfielder turned in an impressive performance with four shots, including two on goal, and the eventual game-winner.
The Falcons outshot the Owls by a 15-7 margin on the day, and controlled much of the play on the attack.
With the loss, Florida Atlantic falls to 0-2-0 to start the season. The team will try again for their first victory this Thursday against Stetson at FAU Field, starting at 7 p.m. Real-time updates are available online via GameTracker at fausports.com.
