Former Florida Atlantic University pitcher Anthony Bradley pitched for the Omaha Royals Tuesday night. Anthony was pleasantly surprised to have the opportunity.
"I never thought (I would be called up) this soon. I'm proud, nervous and excited all at the same time", he said prior to the game.
Bradley was signed by the Royals as undrafted free agent and was pitching in the Single-A Appalachian League prior to his call-up. In two years at FAU, Bradley made 30 appearances with a 2-0 record and one save. He struck out 27 batters and had a 5.21 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched.
He pitched three innings in relief of starter Matt Wright against the Nashville Sounds. He gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out one in his Triple-A debut. Bradley won both Pitcher of the Month for July and Pitcher of the Year for his Single-A team, the Burlington (N.C.) Royals. He went 2-2 with a 2.09 ERA and 3 saves for Burlington.
