Four Players Garner ABCA All-Region Honors

Four members of the Florida Atlantic University baseball team added to their baseball resumes after being named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region team on Wednesday. William Block and Robbie Widlansky were both named to the first team, while Mike McKenna and Chris Salberg were recognized on the second team.
With first-team recognition, Block and Widlansky will be listed on the ABCA All-America ballot to be voted on during the World Series The ABCA team aligns with the All-Conference team as each player earned the same recognition in the Sun Belt Conference. Widlansky (Coral Springs, FL) was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after breaking several FAU records.
Block (Pembroke Pines, FL) hit 18 home runs, the most by a sophomore in FAU's history. He also finished the season with a .344 batting average, 59 RBI and 15 doubles.
Salberg led the conference with 124 strikeouts in 100 1/3 innings and finished with a 7-3 record and 3.05 ERA. The senior leaves FAU with 268 strikeouts to rank third in FAU history. The Rockford, IL native also averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game to rank fifth in the record books.
Mike McKenna had a productive year at the plate as he hit .413 and led the SBC in conference play with a .434 average. He added 14 doubles, two triples and 16 homers for a .716 slugging percentage to go with 60 RBI. Widlansky and Salberg are now both playing professionally for the Baltimore Orioles organization.
