Chris Salberg became the 81st player in Florida Atlantic University history to sign a professional baseball contract this week. The senior from Rockford, IL signed with the Baltimore Orioles after being drafted in 2006 in the 22nd round as a draft-and-follow prospect.
The left-handed pitcher finished with a 3.05 ERA, a 7-3 record and 124 strikeouts in 100 1/3 innings in 2007. His strikeout total ranks him fourth in FAU season history and earned him Second Team All-Conference honors. Salberg completes a three-year career with a 4.47 ERA, 18-14 record, two saves and 268 strikeouts to rank third in that FAU category.
On June 10th he will report to Sarasota, FL for a mini camp with the Orioles before being assigned to a team.
