Owls Sweep Weekly SBC Softball Honors

BOCA RATON, FL - Jen Musillo and Mandie Fishback of the Florida Atlantic University softball team swept the Sun Belt Conference weekly honors, the league office announced on Monday.
Musillo went 5-0 on the week, posting a 0.68 ERA in six appearances. She threw two shutouts, one each against WKU and MTSU, while allowing just 14 hits and 12 walks in 31 innings of work and striking out 32.
The senior from Tequesta, FL blanked Western Kentucky on three hits before shutting out MTSU on just one hit, a ground ball up the middle that went just off her glove. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate on the week, knocking in an important insurance run with a double in the sixth inning of a 2-0 win over MTSU. The senior earned the win in each FAU victory this week, including all three in a series sweep of the Hilltoppers.

The Banks, OR native also scored six times and had 13 putouts and six assists at second base. She hit two solo home runs in a 6-5 win over Western Kentucky and hit another solo home run in a 2-1 win over Middle Tennessee.
The Owls went 5-1 last week in conference play, sweeping Western Kentucky and taking 2-of-3 from MTSU to move into third-place in the Sun Belt Conference. FAU is still mathematically alive for the regular season title as the season enters its final week.
Florida Atlantic wraps up the regular season with a single game against former Atlantic Sun rival Stetson on May 7.
