MURFREESBORO, TN - The Owls faced off with its fourth top-100 ranked opponent in its first six matches and saw the evening's hard fought match come to a close on the down side of a 6-1 match to Sun Belt Conference member Middle Tennessee ranked no. 43 nationally. Despite the two squads both participating in the SBC the match does not count as a conference contest.

FAU dropped all three doubles matches do head into singles play down 1-0. Karol Szmurlo, who captured both matches at Vanderbilt yesterday, was the fist to fall with Corey Smith, Szmurlo's doubles partner fell second. The duo had just faced off with the 16th ranked doubles team nationally which may have affected singles play.

The match was clinched at no. 1 singles with freshman Olivier Sajous being defeated for the first time in six 2007 dual matches. Sajous fell 6-2, 6-3 to Andreas Siljestrom who is currently ranked no. 41 nationally.

"This was a tough battle that lasted four and a half hours. We are coming close to beating these ranked teams but we're not satisfied," said head coach David Komie. "We're right there and need to push through and take these kind of matches. Hopefully this very young group is gaining valuable experience that will pay off in the future."

Daniel Vardag finished his match in traditional scoring in two sets with a 6-1, 6-4 loss. Eddie Majcher was victorous at no. 5 8-5 and J.P. Bounassar fell 8-6.
