Diversified Attack Leads Owls Over UNO, 98-77

BOCA RATON, FL (February 17, 2007) -- Three players crossed the 20-point plateau as the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team picked up its fourth-consecutive victory Saturday, 98-77, over New Orleans at FAU Arena.
Carlos Monroe led the Owls with 30 points and posted his fourth-consecutive double-double grabbing 14 boards, while Paul Graham added 22 and Jeff Parmer 21. The Owls shot over 60 percent for the second-consecutive contest, hitting 60.9 percent of their attempts against the Privateers.
UNO's Bo McCalebb led all scorers with 34 and James Parlow hit six threes and finished with 20 points.
FAU held a slim 38-37 lead at the break, but outscored UNO 60-40 in the second half, shooting 67.6 percent. The Owls posted a 46-26 rebounding edge in the ball game.
DeAndre Rice gave the Owls four scorers in double-figures, scoring 12 points. Derrick Simmons added nine and Brent Crews four. Graham led all players with seven assists.
The Owls (14-13, 9-7 SBC) are above .500 for the first time in 2007, and will host South Alabama, the current no. 1 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament and second-hottest team in the country with 13 straight wins, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
