Monroe Leads Owls Over Hawks, 62-57

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -Carlos Monroe scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Florida Atlantic to a 62-57 win over Monmouth on Sunday.
Sean Alarcon and Derrick Simmons each had 10 points for the Owls (4-8), while Jeff Parmer had nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Jhamar Youngblood had 18 points and five assists for the Hawks (2-9), while Nick Deltufo added 14 points and Yaniv Simpson had 11.
Florida Atlantic led early on, but Monmouth fought back and closed the first half with a 7-2 run, cutting the Owls lead to 29-28 at the break. The teams then traded baskets for most of the second half before Youngblood hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 50-50 with 5:21 left to play.
The Owls, though, then took the lead for good with a 7-0 run and then sealed the win by going 5-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute.
