After a couple of days off, the Florida Atlantic University football team returned to the practice field to continue their on the field work in preparation for the R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on December 21.
Today was the first real game preparation practice, as the offensive and defensive first and second units faced off against the scout teams. The offense worked through their pass sets for most of practice and Rusty Smith looked sharp, as he hit Cortez Gent deep during team drills, and then followed it up by hitting Jason Harmon over the middle.
Defensively, the Owls got their first look at Memphis' offense. The scout team rehearsed out of the shotgun with a spread offense. Michael Hancock saw significant snaps with the first unit during team drills, and Cergile Sincere was able to break free for a couple of tackles during the team workout.
