FAU Continues SBC Conference Schedule

BOCA RATON, FL - ) - Janeke Simpkins and the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team welcome the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM to FAU Field this weekend. After splitting a pair of key conference match-ups with Denver (1-0 win) and North Texas (1-0 loss) last weekend, the Owls look to gain momentum as the stretch run for the postseason nears. With each game critical in terms of seeding for the conference tournament, the team will look to repeat its late run from a season ago. Susanna Lehtinen leads the team in points with 10, and leads the team in assists with four, while Alicia Tirelli leads the team with four goals. Goalkeeper Jessica Badders has played every second in goal for the Owls this season, and has five shutouts on the year to go with her 1.00 goals-against average and 33 saves. The Ragin' Cajuns (6-5-1, 2-1-1 SBC) have outscored opponents 25-20 on the year, led by Kelli Jestes' six scores on the year. She also leads the team with 13 points. Callie Oliver is second on the squad with four goals and 12 points. Kristen Malen has seen a majority of time in net, allowing 17 goals and making 56 saves for a 1.38 goals-against average. She has two shutouts on the year and has shared two more. The Warhawks (5-8-0, 1-3-0 SBC) have been outscored 30-16 on the season. The team's leading scorer with three goals and eight points is Sara Islas. Four other players are tied for second with a pair of tallies. Goalkeeper Mallory George has played every second between the pipes for ULM, posting three shutouts while making 71 saves and posting a 2.31 goals-against average. Friday's game against ULL is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Sunday's game with ULM starts at noon. The first 100 fans at Friday's game will receive a free Owl Towel, courtesy of Pepsi. As always, Junior Owl members receive free admission for themselves and one adult, and youth soccer players in their team's jersey receive admission for just $1.
