BOCA RATON, FL - Back home for the first time in 11 days, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team remained undefeated in Atlantic Soccer Conference action with a 1-0 victory over Philadelphia University on Saturday.
The Owls dictated tempo for much of the game offensively, reflected in their 15-4 advantage in shots on the night.
Liam Ogle scored the only goal of the match in the 60th minute, using an effective move to get inside and bury a shot from 20 feet out. It was the fourth goal of the season for the junior midfielder, tying Shire Standnes for the club lead.
Danny Gruberg provided a spark off the bench for the Owls in the midfield, while Guilherme Ribeiro and Trey McEntee continued their strong play in the backfield to help limit the Rams to just two shots on goal throughout.
Sophomore Ezra Cassell was severely tested in goal for Philadelphia (2-10-2, 1-2-1), stopping six of the seven FAU shots he faced in a hard-luck defeat.
Florida Atlantic (6-7-1, 3-0-0 ASC) now prepares for their final road game of the regular season, a conference battle with Adelphi next Saturday at 2 p.m. in Queens, NY.
