QUEENS, NY - In its final regular season road contest, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team salvaged a 1-1 tie with Adelphi University at Belson Stadium on Saturday.
The Owls scored first on a shot by Liam Ogle from just outside the box in the game's 41st minute. The defending ASC Player of the Week, Ogle has scored in each of the team's last three games. The junior midfielder also leads FAU with five goals this year.
Kemalie Preston countered in the waning moments of the match for Adelphi, redirecting a shot teammate Andrew Worth clanged off the post in the 86th minute.
The Panthers controlled the action in the second half, outshooting the Owls by a 9-1 margin in the frame and 15-7 overall.
Phillip Lamarre turned in a clutch performance in goal to keep the score tied for FAU, making three second half saves and stonewalling Adelphi in both overtimes.
Florida Atlantic (6-7-2, 3-0-1 ASC) returns home for the final three games of the season, starting with the conference finale against Howard (3-5-5, 1-1-1 ASC) on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. The Owls can clinch their first Atlantic Soccer Conference title with a win or a tie against the Bison.
