Florida Atlantic University swim coach Steve Eckelkamp has announced the hiring of Oliver Agh as an assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. A former FAU swimmer and team captain in 1998-99, Agh has international experience that will be beneficial to the program.
A native of Hungary, Agh was a member of the Hungarian National Swim Team from 1989-2000 and participated in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.
"As a former two-time Olympian and National Team member for Hungary, Agh brings a wealth of experience that should benefit our swimmers," said head coach Steve Eckelkamp. "As a former FAU swimmer and alum he will bring the kind of personal insights that will also help the swimmers adjust and excel at FAU."
While at FAU, Agh was an eight-time conference champion and successfully defended his 200 backstroke title each year at the conference championships. In 1996, he advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 200 back and 400 IM.
After competing at FAU for four seasons, he graduated with a bachelor's of science in 2000. Agh continued his education and received his master's of business administration in 2003. Since that time he has worked in several marketing agencies and as a manager of two swim schools.
"I have known Oliver for over 10 years and am excited to have him as part of our program," said Eckelkamp. "He can definitely contribute to FAU's quest to reach the next level of excellence."
