Denver, CO -- The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team dropped its first road contest in Sun Belt Conference play, losing 5-1 to Denver in Denver, CO on Friday.
DU's Taryn Hemmings scored 42 seconds into the match and would assist on Lleane Grimditch's tally in the 15th minute. Holly Huppert's goal in the 22nd minute made it 3-0 Pioneers after 45 minutes of play.
The Owls would inch back into the game in the 48th minute when Alicia Tirelli's header found the upper left corner for the team's first goal, but Hemmings found Katie Culp in the 57th minute to push the deficit back to three goals at 4-1. Mariah Johnston would add the insurance marker in the 79th minute.
Jessica Badders got the start in goal for the Owls, allowing three goals while making two stops. Megan Coyne played the second half and allowed two goals.
North Texas is up next for FAU as the road trip continues. The Owls will face-off versus the Mean Green on Sunday at 2 p.m.
