BOCA RATON, FL -- The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision in a Sun Belt Conference match-up in Denton, TX on Sunday.
Heather Hutyra scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Mean Green to victory, and North Texas outshot FAU 18-5.
Hutyra scored the game's first goal on a breakaway created by a pass off the foot of Dani Slavonic, who assisted on each of the game's first two goals, in the 31st minute.
Thirteen minutes later Julie Radford would make it 2-0 on a header following a Slavonic corner kick just four seconds before halftime.
Kendall Juett would make it 3-0 in the 49th minute, and Hutyra would score her second goal in the 52nd minute on a breakaway from 15-yards out.
Megan Coyne got the start in net, allowing two goals while making three saves. Jessica Badders came in to play the final 45 minutes and made six saves while allowing a pair of UNT goals.
The loss drops FAU to 4-6-2 on the season while the win lifts North Texas to 8-2-2. FAU is 1-3-0 in conference play while UNT is 3-0-0.
Next up for FAU, the Owls will travel to Louisiana for games against Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe on October 6 and October 8, respectively.
