JMU Tops FAU in Three

Fort Collins, CO - On the first day of competition at the Colorado State Coors Invitational, Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team dropped a three-game match to James Madison University 28-30, 22-30, 27-30. The Dukes remain perfect on the season with a 5-0 record, while FAU falls to 0-4.
In game one, FAU battled to within one point at 29-28 by scoring two consecutive points on a JMU service error and a Janelle Sarauw (St. Thomas, V.I.) kill. The Dukes closed out the game with a Nicole Fenner kill.
James Madison led all of game two and took the momentum into game three before FAU took its first lead at 16-15 in game three on a block by freshmen Lauren Ditscheit (Wauwatosa, WI) and Krystena Castro (Nanuet, NY). Ditscheit and Justine Petry (Trumansburg, NY) both finished with three blocks for the Owls.
The two teams battled to a 24-24 tie before James Madison took the lead for good on a Hanna Porterfield kill and closed out the match. Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) led the FAU offense for the third time this season with 17 kills. Sarauw added nine kills and Castro added seven. In the backrow, Nikki Hartman (Deltona, FL) and Kaila Janssen (Whitdy, Ontario, Canada) finished with 14 and 12 digs, respectively.
JMU had three players finish with double-digit kills. Fenner led the way with 13 followed by Bayli Stillwell's 11 and Allyson Halls 10 kills. Halls also added seven blocks in the match.
On Saturday, FAU will try to rebound as it faces Colorado State at 2 p.m. et and Wake Forest at 7 p.m.et.
