Will Mann Signs with the Red Sox

Former Florida Atlantic University baseball player Will Mann became the fourth Owl player to sign a professional contract this year after he signed with the Boston Red Sox, Wednesday. The West Palm Beach native was a four-year letterman at FAU.
Mann will find himself in rookie ball in the Gulf Coast League after finishing his FAU career with 59 appearances, a 10-7 record and a 4.43 ERA in 26 starts. The right-handed pitcher will be remembered for his 2002 postseason efforts. He earned the win in the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship game and then pitched a complete game at the NCAA Regional against NC State as he struck out a career-high nine batters.
Florida Atlantic has had 48 players signs contracts to play professional baseball in the last 10 years. Four formers Owls have advanced to the major leagues,Tim Harikkala, Carmen Cali, Jeff Fiorentino and most recently Tommy Murphy.
