Florida Atlantic Athletics Honored at Reception

Palm Beach County recently honored Florida Atlantic University Athletics with a reception on June 2, hosted by attorneys Phil and Margaret Stillman.
The event took place at Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter, where the Owl mascot handed out FAU hats and team merchandise and greeted each guest. Over 100 people danced and partied through the night to the sounds of a tropical band.
FAU football head coach Howard Schnellenberger, basketball head coach Rex Walters and baseball head coach Kevin Cooney were in attendance.
Also in attendance were President and Mrs. Frank T. Brogan, who gave an update on the Scripps Research Institute, which will be located nearby the Jupiter campus.
President Brogan also spoke about the new medical school and teaching hospital to be built on the Boca Raton campus, as well as the impending decision on the Cultural Events Center, which will house dorms, restaurants, hotels, and a dome stadium for football and basketball.
