Owls Earn No. 2 Seed for A-Sun Championships

MACON, GA - The Florida Atlantic University softball team (29-22, 15-5 A-Sun) will face East Tennessee State (20-34, 9-11 A-Sun) in the first round of the 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Championships, scheduled for this Thursday through Saturday, May 11-13, at FAU Softball Stadium.
The Owls closed the regular season in a tie for second place in the conference and have earned the no. 2 seed for the tournament. Florida Atlantic will be featured with the no. 5 Buccaneers in the 11:00 a.m. game in Thursday's opening round and, if victorious, would move on to play in the 6:00 p.m. game that evening against either no. 3 Mercer (26-26, 12-6 A-Sun) or no. 4 Campbell (30-26, 12-8 A-Sun), who face off in the day's first game at 9:00 a.m.
The loser of the FAU-ETSU game would fall to Thursday's 4:00 p.m. start against the loser of no. 1 Stetson (41-13, 16-4 A-Sun) and no. 6 Gardner-Webb (12-36, 7-13 A-Sun). The Hatters and the Bulldogs will battle at 1:00 p.m. in the final game of the first round.
