BOCA RATON, FL - Boston College pounded out 14 hits as the Eagles (7-7) defeated the Florida Atlantic University softball team on Thursday evening 8-2 at FAU Softball Stadium.
Amy Bukovich (Boca Raton, Fla.) had one of Florida Atlantic's three hits on the evening, delivering a two-run single in the second inning to cut an Owls' deficit to 4-2. Senior Danielle Arriaga (Miami, Fla.) and junior Jen Musillo (Tequesta, Fla.) scored on the play.
Musillo's double earlier in the inning and a single by freshman Kala Guy (Hollywood, Fla.) in the fourth were the only other hits on the night for FAU (7-12). The game was the third in six days between the two teams, which split two match-ups over the weekend.
Musillo (4-2) suffered the loss for Florida Atlantic, allowing six runs in four innings of work. Freshman Kathryn Stauffer (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) worked two innings of relief for the Owls, before giving way to junior Tara Grady (Prescott, Ariz.), who threw one inning of perfect relief in her first appearance of the year.
The Owls returned to action on Friday in the 2006 FAU Worth Classic, facing Bethune-Cookman at 6:00 p.m. and Rutgers at 8:00.
