Clary Dominates Bull Invite

Tampa, FL -- Malika Clary and Christina Dutko led the Florida Atlantic University women's track team in a solid effort during the University of South Florida Bull Invitational on Saturday.
Clary picked up first-place finishes in the 200m (24.72) and the 4x400m relay team, and added a second-place finish in the 100m (12.53). Dutko picked up a victory in the 1,500m with a time of 4:51.79.
The Owls are preparing themselves for the A-Sun Conference Championship by diversifying their abilities early in the season.
"The next few weeks we are trying to compete in as many events as possible. We are working hard in practice and want to find where our strengths are. As we get closer to [the A-Sun Championship], we will hone in a bit and try to focus in on fewer events," head coach Alex Smolka said. "Right now we have a lot of people in events where they wouldn't normally compete."
The 4x400m relay team posted a winning-time of 3:54.96, edging host USF by 1.99 seconds.
Monika Grabowiecka made her 2006 season debut, returning from injury to finish fourth in the 3,000m with a time of 10:59.68.
Personal-best marks include Dutko's mark in the 1,500m, Brandi Prather's time of 25.48 in the 200m, and Trishauna Clarke's effort in the long jump (5.30m).
First-time marks include Krystena Castro's mark in the discus (40.68m) and first-time competitor Nicole Bronson's mark in the javelin (26.19m).
The Owls will now head to Coral Gables, FL where they will take part in the Hurricane Invitational March 17-18.
