Orlando, FL -- The 2006 spring season got underway for the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team on Monday afternoon at the UCF Invitational. The Owls finished round one in 10th place posting a team total of 313 strokes on the par-72, 5,919 yard course at Stoneybrook Golf Club.
The Owls had three players card in an opening round score of 78 and are tied in 28th place. Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn shot a 38 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine to finish six over par. June Bolme carded in a 39 strokes on each half the course to total an opening round 78 and Sandi Macdougall shaved two strokes off her front nine total of 40 to record a 38 on the back half of the course.
Freshman Kimberly D'Andrea took 41 swings on the front nine and 38 on the back nine to record a seven over 79 on day one of the two-day event.
Kendall Kirby rounded out the Owls scorecard with an 82 (43-39) in round one.
Rollins College is currently in first-place with 294 total strokes. Mariana De Biase of Rollins, Susan Nam of Florida International, and Marla Troester of Texas Tech each carded an opening round score of 71 to control the top of the leader board.
The UCF Invitational will come to end tomorrow afternoon with the conclusion of round-two.
