COLUMBUS, GA - Freshman Kathryn Stauffer (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) continued her solid pitching but the Florida Atlantic softball team suffered two losses at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. on Friday.
Stauffer struck out five Cornhuskers but could not escape the heart of the line-up for no. 17 Nebraska, as FAU fell 5-0 in the opener. Nebraska's two, three and four hitters scored once each and accounted for three RBIs, thanks mostly to back-to-back home runs in the first inning.
Stauffer (1-6) went the distance against the Huskers, allowing eight hits and walking just two. Three Owls picked up hits, with junior Mandie Fishback (Banks, Ore.) smacking her third double of the season.
