Friday night at Pharmed Arena, Florida International University took a three-game match from Florida Atlantic University in Sun Belt Conference play (3-17, 30-27, 30-20). The Golden Panthers improve to 20-7, 12-3 SBC, while the Owls fall to 9-17, 5-10 SBC.
Justine Petry led the Owls with 11 kills and added two blocks in the match. Kaila Janssen and Krystena Castro followed with eight and seven kills, respectively.
Katie Arvidson paced the defense with nine digs.
Three players finished with double-digit kills for FIU. Yarimar Rosa finished with a match-high 18 kills. Rosa entered the week ranked seventh in the nation in kills per game with 5.43. Olga Vergun and Arasay Guerra added 12 and 11 kills. The Golden Panthers finished the match with 52 kills and a .377 hitting percentage.
The Owls have two matches remaining in the regular season. The team will host South Alabama on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Troy on Saturday at 2 p.m.
