Western Kentucky University used a .346 hitting percentage to defeat Florida Atlantic University 3-0 (30-19, 30-16, 30-17) on Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton in Sun Belt volleyball action. FAU middle blockers Krystena Castro and Justine Petry combined for 18 of the team's 32 kills.
The Lady Topper offense started out strong by recording 14 kills and built on their momentum. The team hit .364 in game two and .417 in game three to improve to 23-8, 12-2 SBC to remain atop the Sun Belt standings.
WKU middle hitter Jenna Gideon contributed a match-high 15 kills and did not commit an error in her 23 attempts to record a .652 hitting percentage in the match. Fellow middle blocker and the 2005 National Freshman of the Year, Megan Argabright was held to 11 kills in 22 attempts.
Libero Kelly Hofmeyer recorded a match-high 18 digs for the Lady Toppers. Her counterpart, Nikki Hartman finished with a team-high 11 digs for the Owls (8-16, 5-9 SBC).
Setter Casey LaRocca finished with 29 assists in the match.
On Wednesday night, Florida Atlantic will host its final non-conference match of the season when UCF visits Boca Raton for a 7 p.m. matchup.
